iPad is lame & what phones should be able to do.

First let me rant. The iPad is a magical and revolutionary device that fails on too many levels to make it desirable. As everyone already knows, it’s basically a large iPhone without flash, a camera, and the inability to multi-task on the internet. Now that I got that out, this is how I think smart phones should function:

The only electronic device that most everyone has with them at all times is their phone; it’s a fact, Google it. A phone should function as a communication and electronic device that does everything a computer can do. The iPhone, Nexus One, and other smartphones are getting close to accomplishing this but they are missing a few key details. Everything should be an extension of the phone. I’ll describe a day with this dreamy device. It’s all bluetooth btw, cords are so 2008.

8:00am - Your alarm goes off via your phone, the lights turn on, and the weather / news pops up on your touchscreen tv as you make your way into the shower. Whatever you want to happen when you wake up can be programmed into your phone and sync’d to your house.

9:30am - You leave the house and get into your car where everything on your phone can be operated hands free via the cars interface; gps, music, phone calls, voicemail, etc.

10:00am - You get to work, sit at your desk, and your phone acts as the brain of your computer replacing everything but the monitor, keyboard, and mouse:

Phone to Computer

1:00pm - You have a flight to Hawaii (dream job) so you unplug your phone, grab your tablet device (iPad 2.0) and head to the airport. Now you can use your tablet device to check e-mail, read a book, video conference, or do anything your computer can currently do from a touch screen interface.

Phone to Devices

7:00pm - Your flight arrives and you make your way to the hotel where you plug your phone into your pillow because it’s so wonderful and does everything you could ever imagine.

Phone to Everything

I think Apples’ view on technology (build everything ourselves because no one else is as awesome as Apple) is probably too closed-minded to develop a phone like this that interacts with anything and can serve as a mini computer for any device. Someone (Google?) however has a great opportunity to make a device (free?) that is used in almost every aspect of our lives.

Human Food 3000â„¢, it’s what humans need.

Human Food 3000

While watching a favorite show of mine (I’ll leave it un-named to save face) I was bombarded by a commercial for weight loss, nothing new. This commercial was followed up by another for weight loss, albeit for dogs (commercial). So then an offbeat idea hit me. If we give dogs the same food every day which has all the vitamins, minerals, etc. that they need to live a healthy life, why can’t we do the same thing for humans?

I know, I wouldn’t want to eat the same thing every day of my life because I’m used to the variety and I like love the taste of food. Although, you have to admit that the idea doesn’t sound too far fetched (see what I did there?). Let’s take a look at a few scenarios and see if we can justify a bag of human food.

You’re a 300lb linebacker and you’ve always had a problem with weight management and over eating. You’ve tried everything in the book from hoodia, acai, and green tea to weight watchers, atkins, etc. and nothing has helped to reach your goal weight of 54lbs. Enter “Human Food 3000″, a revolutionary new meal in a bag. With Human Food 3000 you are given a regimen of portions and a strict schedule to follow to get you to 54lbs in the next 18 months. Similar to Nutrisystem but way more affordable and consistent. Which brings me to my next scenario.

You’re a 94lb full grown man/woman living in a 3rd world country where food is scarce and shoe inserts (PLUG!) are scarcer. Non-profits are able to purchase Human Food 3000 in large quantities for less than the cost of rice and with more nutritional value. If charities are able to provide more needy people with the nutrients they need to survive, who cares if it’s the same flavor and consistency on the pallet?

Hopefully you understand the idea now, a cheap and efficient pellet-form food that has everything humans need to be healthy. So the next question is, who’s going to make it happen? If anyone executes the idea, send me a bag to try!

Looking for coupons?

We just launched a new discount coupon codes website to offer coupons to some of the top merchants in categories we don’t currently have sites in. Take a look at the site and let me know what you think!

48Hourprint.com Coupon Codes

1000Bulbs.com Coupon Codes

HotMovieSale.com Coupon Codes

We had a hard time as a merchant figuring out the value in listing coupons on sites like the one we just completed. Since working on the site, I’ve come to the following conclusion. If a merchant provides competitive coupons that help to drive new traffic from customers who were looking at their competitors coupons, it can lead to more conversions. The thing is with us, we don’t usually have many competitors because we keep our sites niche. What do you think?

American Express, what’s the best card?

To choose the most appropriate card you first need to figure out what you will be using the card for and what rewards will be most beneficial to you. I personally have the gold card because I don’t travel much. If you travel a lot you will find the American Express Platinum card to have the best rewards. On our corporate blog we wrote a post about the American Express Plum card and if you are looking for more information on the plum you can visit their site. No matter what card you choose to go with, I would encourage you to get an Amex and push all your expenses through it.

Fish found in boy’s penis

Stumble It!

A 2cm long fish apparently found it’s way into the penis of a 14-year-old boy from India. This lead doctors to further investigate and write a case study on the findings.

Penis Fish

Case Presentation:

“A 14 year old boy came to us with complaints of pain, difficulty in voiding with dribbling of urine and subsequently developed acute urinary retention of 24 hours duration. On further questioning he gave an interesting history. While he was cleaning the fish tank in his house, he was holding a fish in his hand and went to the toilet for passing urine. While he was passing urine, the fish slipped from his hand and entered his urethra and then he developed all these symptoms. . Plain X ray KUB was normal. Abdominal Ultrasonogram showed normal kidneys, bladder was full and a 1.5 Cm echogenic object found inside the bladder without any after shadow.”

Conclusion:

“Introduction of foreign bodies into the bladder may be through self-insertion, iatrogenic means or migration from adjacent organs. Extraction should be tailored according to the nature of the foreign body and should minimize bladder and urethral trauma. Complete extraction should also be confirmed by panendoscopy at the end of the extraction procedure. The possibility of an intravenous foreign body should be considered in any patient with chronic unexplained lower urinary tract symptoms.”

The boy claimed that the fish slipped into his penis while he was cleaning his aquarium at home. RIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!

He was later admitted into counseling to help him overcome any trauma.

Xbox 360 Premium - HDMI Cable / Digital Optical Adapter Hack

Don’t waste money on a Xbox 360 Premium HDMI cable!

If you’re like me, you ordered the xbox 360 Premium instead of the 360 Elite because you wanted to save money. However, if you want HDMI going to your TV and Digital Optical to your surround sound, Microsoft has engineered the Premium in a way that requires you to purchase their HDMI cable with audio adapter for $49.99.

xbox-hdmi-cable.jpg

Because the HDMI and componet A/V cable slots are so close to one another, and the componet A/V casing is so thick, you cannot have both plugged in at the same time.

avcables.jpg + hdmicable.jpg

= NOT FRIENDS

So the question remains, how can we stick it to the man and achieve HDMI video and Digital Optical audio without paying microsoft $50.

First, purchase a Hdmi Cable for less than $10.

Second, remove the plastic casing from the standard A/V cable. I did this by wedging a knife between the slit in the plastic casing and seperating the two sides. See the pictures below for the finished product:

Google Acquired DoubleClick for 1.65 billion.

Google reached an agreement today to acquire DoubleClick, the online advertising company, from two private equity firms for $3.1 billion in cash, the companies announced, an amount that was almost double the $1.65 billion in stock that Google paid for YouTube late last year.

The sale offers Google access to DoubleClick’s advertisement software and, more importantly, its relationships with Web publishers, advertisers and advertising agencies… [read more]
